The founders of Day & Johns, PLLC,  and Christopher Day and Milt Johns, have extensive legal experience in many areas of the law.  The firm includes attorneys with private law experience in both large and small firms licensed to practice in Virginia, Michigan and the District of Columbia.  The firm's attorneys include graduates of Northwestern, Michigan State University, University of Virginia and George Mason.

Christopher M. Day

After a clerkship with the Honorable Bruce C. Levine, Christopher M. Day served as the Assistant Attorney General for Northern Virginia for four years, representing the Commonwealth of Virginia in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Day entered private practice in 1999 and worked for two local litigation firms, in which he tried cases before both judges and juries with an exemplary success record.  Types of cases brought to trial include civil litigation, criminal defense (including DUI/DWI, assaults, reckless driving, drug possession, etc.), workers’ compensation, and employment matters.

Mr. Day is an active member of the Virginia Bar and is admitted to practice in the Virginia Circuit, General District, the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, in addition to the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States Supreme Court.  He holds memberships in the Fairfax, Loudon and Arlington County Bar Associations, as well as the National Center for Victims of Crime Bar Association, and the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Day teaches seminars to other lawyers on workers' compensation, estate planning and other areas of law.

Mr. Day holds a Juris Doctorate degree from George Mason University School of Law, where he served as a student editor for a faculty trade publication.  He graduated from Michigan State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in financial administration, where he was president of the Order of Omega Honor Society and named the 1991 Greek Man of the Year.

Milt Johns

Milt Johns has spent over 22 years in the Department of Defense contracting industry, in legal and management positions.  Before joining Cuccinelli & Day of counsel, he has maintained a private practice of law for almost 10 years.  He has litigated in the areas of traffic and criminal law, juvenile and domestic relations, personal injury, commercial contracts and Government contracts.  He has advised corporate clients in the areas of employment law, contracts, real estate, export control and intellectual property.

He has argued bench and jury trials throughout Northern Virginia, served as corporation counsel to profit and nonprofit entities, and has taught law at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Mr. johns is an active member of the Virginia Bar, and is admitted to practice in the Virginia Circuit, General District, the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, in addition to the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Mr. Johns served on the Prince William County School Board in 2003 as the elected Brentsville Magisterial District representative, and was elected Chairman at Large of the School Board in 2007.

Mr. Johns received his Bachelors Degrees in Political Science in 1986 and his Masters Degree in Security Policy Studies in 1989, both from George Washington University, He was awarded his Juris Doctorate with High Honors from George Mason University in 1997.

Jonathan Nelson

Jonathan A. Nelson joined Cuccinelli & Day, PLLC as an associate upon his being admitted to the Virginia Bar in 2007.  Mr. Nelson is a litigator, handling a wide variety of courtroom and pre-trial responsibilities before courts, administrative judges/commissioners, and arbitrators throughout Northern Virginia. 

 

Mr. Nelson’s practice focuses on contract litigation, personal injury, and family disputes.  He also drafts and reviews contracts, drawing on his knowledge of litigation to help anticipate potential future advantages or pitfalls.

 

Mr. Nelson is a 2007 graduate of The George Washington University School of Law.  While in law school, he competed in moot court and alternative dispute resolution, as well as participating in mock trial and negotiations.  Mr. Nelson received his B.A. in Government and Public Policy from Patrick Henry College in 2004. 

 

Paul A. Prados

Paul A. Prados joined the law firm of Cuccinelli & Day, PLLC as an associate at its founding in November 2005.   Prior to becoming a fully licensed attorney, Mr. Prados worked for the law firm's predecessor, Gura & Day, as a law clerk.  Mr. Prados has been involved in many areas of the firm's practice, but focuses primarily on civil litigation, simple estate planning, and trust and estate litigation.

During law school Mr. Prados served as a law clerk for Pascal & Weiss, P.C., where he worked on commercial collections and general litigation matters.  Mr. Prados developed his interest in the law prior to law school at Debevoise & Plimpton as a litigation paralegal focusing on securities litigation and life insurance class action lawsuits.

Mr. Prados has extensive policy experience dating back to his undergraduate years.  He has held positions at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, various political campaigns, and during law school at the National Federation of Independent Business Legal Foundation where he analyzed federal regulatory law and policy, and assisted in federal regulatory public interest litigation.

Mr. Prados is a 2005 graduate of George Mason University School of Law where he served as Treasurer of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, and represented the school in multiple mediation advocacy competitions.   Mr. Prados received his B.A. from George Washington University in 2000.  He is a native of northern Pennsylvania, is recently married, and has lived in Northern Virginia for the past eight years.
